Springs Fabrication recently completed the design, engineering, and full-scale production of eleven custom Yard Bogies to support a major client in the wind energy sector. These robust transport systems were specifically developed to facilitate the movement of large wind tower sections within a manufacturing environment.
Each Yard Bogie was engineered with a 50-ton load capacity, ensuring the safe and efficient handling of massive structural components during assembly and staging. Our in-house team meticulously managed the entire lifecycle of the project—from raw material processing to final assembly—within our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.
Constructed from carbon steel and weighing approximately 6,000 lbs. each, the Yard Bogies were designed with both durability and performance in mind. The Bogies utilize 747 aircraft wheel/tire assemblies paired with hard rubber forklift tires acting as rollers, delivering exceptional load-bearing strength and maneuverability required for this application.
To meet the client’s operational demands and maintain high performance in rugged environments, each unit was finished with an industrial-grade paint system, ensuring corrosion resistance and long-term durability.
