Pikes Peak Community College (Colorado Springs, CO) held the Skills USA welding competition for secondary and post-secondary competitors. The young welders were present to compete in FCAW, SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, oxy-fuel cutting, blueprint reading and part fit up. Springs Fabrication Welding Engineers; James Vela and Andrew Lindloff proctored the FCAW (flux-cored arc welding) portion of the competition. As judges they performed visual inspection of FCAW fillet welds, inspected part fit up and evaluated print reading. Each student was given a score for that portion of the test. SFI is pleased to provide support for this competition for the 3^rd year in a row and we look forward to future competitions.
