Welder III / Fabricator III - Colorado Springs, CO

Springs Fabrication is currently looking for expert Welder/Fabricators for our Colorado Springs location.

Must meet the following requirements:
  • Capable of 6G certification in GMAW/FCAW and/or GTAW processes. SAW is a plus
  • Capable of reading complex drawings, including weld symbols
  • 3 or more years of code welding experience
  • Pipe welding experience up to 20” piping and/or large structural weldments required
  • Experience demonstrating X-Ray quality welds and capable of fitting up complex
  • weldments with consideration for tolerance, shrinkage, and heat induced warpage
  • Robotic welding experience a plus
  • Experience with various metals, including carbon steel, stainless steel, and nickel alloys

Welders will be required to take the following tests: Shop Math Test, Weld Symbology Test, as well the following weld test:

  • 4" Schedule 160 pipe w/ GMAW root pass and FCAW fill and cap, also in the 6G position and / or 1 ½" Schedule 40 GTAW test in the 6G position

Advanced Technology Group, a division of Springs Fabrication, is seeking skilled TIG welders, level II and III, experienced in sanitary welding processes

Requirements
  • Must be experienced in sanitary welding, with GTAW/GMAW
  • Experienced with welding stainless steel, aluminum and carbon steel
  • Fundamental understanding of various weld processes (GTAW/GMAW) and welding machinery
  • Capable of reading basic blueprints and weld symbols
  • Fundamental to advanced understanding of GD&T
  • Ability to operate hand tools, grinders, etc
  • Ability to operate and/or willingness to learn operation of basic shop machinery (band saw, shear, drill press, plasma cutter, etc.)
  • Fundamental to advanced understanding of polishing and surface finishes
  • Ability to work in a custom manufacturing team environment
  • Capable of completing weldments with consideration of tolerances, shrinkage and warpage
  • Ability to operate and/or willingness to learn operation of forklifts and cranes
  • Own set of basic handtools (tape measure, square, wrenched, drivers, etc.)
  • Self-motivated and dependable
  • Must be able to pass a GTAW 6G sst pipe test (xray) , as well as written Shop Math and Weld Symbology tests



Polisher II - Westminster, CO

Advanced Technology Group, a division of Springs Fabrication, is searching for experienced, self-motivated Polisher. In this role you will finish custom engineered metal products to the surface finish required by our customers. You will work with a team of talented fabricators where collaboration and communication is key to completing projects on time and to customer specifications. You will train others in polishing and finishing processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Read and understand fabrication drawings.
  • Determine required surface finish and locations on metal parts, assemblies, or weldments.
  • Use grinders, buff wheels, stroke sanders, and other tools, to grind and polish to required surface finish.
  • Processes required paperwork according to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe working area.
  • Support training of personnel in established polishing and finishing processes.
  • All other duties as assigned by shop supervision.
  • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
    1. HS Diploma, GED or equivalent.
    2. At least 3 years of metal finishing experience and knowledge of sanitary surface finishes (grinding, graining, brushing, random orbital) on stainless steel equipment for the pharmaceutical, food-grade or nuclear industries.
    3. Ability read fabrication drawings to determine required surface finish and other specifications.
    4. Experience with grinders, buff wheels, stroke sanders, and other hand tools used to modify surface finish of stainless steel, steel, and aluminum products.
    5. Ability to use standard measuring equipment to measure dimensions and surface finishes.



Manufacturing Engineer - Westminster, CO

The Manufacturing Engineer will support processing and forming operations in a project based, fabrication environment. This role will serve as a key link between the manufacturing floor and engineering department; requiring creativity and resourcefulness due to the custom nature of the business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
  • Provide guidance to customers and design engineers to establish manufacturable and cost effective designs based on cutting, forming, and other processing knowledge.
  • Convert engineering designs (in both design-build and build to print scenarios) to appropriate flat patterns and data files for cutting and forming.
  • Own forming processes and drive technology, tooling, and processing improvements to eliminate waste and support tighter tolerance fabrication.
  • Deliver clear manufacturing direction for production staff through 3D model based drawings, work instructions and SOP’s to support efficient routing and production of product.
  • Interface with processing suppliers to effectively transfer information required to execute subcontracted work.
  • Participate in engineering design reviews to help establish the most cost effective designs that meet customer requirements.
  • Stay informed on new manufacturing technologies. Investigate and recommend new processing technologies that improve efficiency and quality.
  • Support ongoing effort to streamline project initiation and execution by establishing standard processes and systems to create and distribute manufacturing data for sheet metal operations.
  • Provide design engineering support as required by work load and project types.
  • Support Lean initiatives and creating a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering from a four-year college or university
  • 5 years in a Lean fabrication environment with hands-on experience with both light and heavy gauge sheet metal parts (up to 5/8” plate). Experience should include cutting/shearing, press brake forming, and welding. Machining experience a plus.
  • Additional class work in management type courses and problem-solving techniques is preferred.
  • SKILLS and ABILITIES :
  • Posses the ability to generate, read and interpret fabrication drawings, process and instrumentation diagrams and schematics.
  • In-depth knowledge of fundamental mechanical engineering concepts and how to apply to fabrication and manufacturing processes. Knowledge of applicable local, state and federal regulations preferred.
  • Able to create flat patterns using parallel/radial line development as well as triangulation development (cones/transitions).
  • Possess good working knowledge of the effects of welding and brazing carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
  • Has thorough knowledge of the metal fabrication processes and associated equipment, including machining, cutting, shearing, press brake forming, and welding.
  • One must posses strong computer knowledge and be familiar with Microsoft Office, ERP systems (such as SYSPRO) and CAD/modeling software such as AutoCad, ProEngineer, Solid Works (preferred).
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and interface effectively with project managers, production staff, engineering, and estimating.
