Welder III / Fabricator III - Colorado Springs, CO

Springs Fabrication is currently looking for expert Welder/Fabricators for our Colorado Springs location.

Must meet the following requirements:
  • Capable of 6G certification in GMAW/FCAW and/or GTAW processes. SAW is a plus
  • Capable of reading complex drawings, including weld symbols
  • 3 or more years of code welding experience
  • Pipe welding experience up to 20” piping and/or large structural weldments required
  • Experience demonstrating X-Ray quality welds and capable of fitting up complex
  • weldments with consideration for tolerance, shrinkage, and heat induced warpage
  • Robotic welding experience a plus
  • Experience with various metals, including carbon steel, stainless steel, and nickel alloys

Welders will be required to take the following tests: Shop Math Test, Weld Symbology Test, as well the following weld test:

  • 4" Schedule 160 pipe w/ GMAW root pass and FCAW fill and cap, also in the 6G position and / or 1 ½" Schedule 40 GTAW test in the 6G position

REQUIRED ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE: 5 or more years in a manufacturing or job shop environment. Familiar with steel fabrication and machining concepts. Able to read technical specifications, drawings and diagrams. SUMMARY: Promotes, estimates and manages the complete range of technical projects from contract requirements, drawings & specifications. Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of projects to ensure that goals or objectives of the projects are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters by performing the following duties personally or by managing their assigned support personnel. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Promotes the companies capabilities and skills to achieve company goals (BHAG)
  • Grows profitable sales volume to achieve department goals.
  • Establishes work plans and identifies required staffing resources to support the project goals.
  • Directs and manages assigned and/or supporting personnel.
  • Reviews specifications, requirements & drawings to establish estimated labor, materials and outside vendors required to develop cost estimate.
  • Provides quotations to customers for prospective work / projects.
  • Reviews project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, supporting department requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
  • Works in conjunction with production, purchasing, scheduling, quality control and engineering departments to facilitate the project requirements.
  • Prepares, submits and maintains the requisite project documentation prescribed by internal and external quality program requirements.
  • Confers with project resources to outline the work plan and to communicate specifications, responsibilities, and scope of work.
  • Directs and coordinates activities of project resources to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget and seeks out cost cutting measures in the manufacturing process.
  • Prepares and reviews status reports and modifies schedules or plans as required.
  • Develops estimates and provides quotes to customers on various projects, and follows up on sales leads.
  • Maintains customer accounts including correspondence, estimating and price information.
  • Prepares project reports for management, client, or others.
  • Confers with project resources to provide technical advice and to resolve issues.
  • Coordinates project activities with activities of government regulatory or other governing agencies.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization`s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining assigned employees. Conflict resolution and coaching as needed. Assembly Technician - Colorado Springs, CO

Springs Fabrication is seeking a Assembly Technician/Electrician for our growing assembly department at our Colorado Springs location. This technician will perform simple to complex mechanical and electrical assembly.

    Design and improve manufacturing techniques through specification and implementation of new machinery and processes and maintenance of equipment currently in use.
      ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
      • Assemble projects per established plans.
      • Performs medium to complex heavy assembly tasks under the guidance of Assembly Team Lead or Production Manager.
      • Confer with Production and Project Management to solve manufacturing problems, improve processes and feasbility of manufacturing products
      • Understand fully Springs Fabrication policy statement, commitment to 5S and safety
      • Plans and performs jobs of installing a variety of electrical equipment such as control panels, switchboards, junction boxes, switches, etc.
      • Connects and disconnects electric powered machines, repairs motors, replaces fuses and sets of circuit breakers on high and low tension circuits.
      • Diagnoses electrical trouble, uses hand and power tools, works from wiring diagram.
      • Planning may involve determination of method and sequence of operation and selection of materials to be used.
      • Works independently and may provide direction to an assistant or less experienced tech member.
      • Experience Requirements
        • At least 2 years of Electrical experience - home building/installation type of experience(running conduit, splices and termination of conductors) is ideal
        • High level of mechanical and electrical knowledge
        • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
        • Must know how to use tools
        • Ability to operate a fork-lift and man-lift
        • Able to do heavy lifting and work on man-lifts, 20+ ft
        • Knowledge of rigging is preferred
        • Knowledge of pipe-fitting is preferred
        • Basic knowledge of machining and fabricating, i.e: able to run a mill, lathe, welder
        • Ability to work self-directed


        • Material Handler - Colorado Springs, CO

          We are seeking a Material Handler for our Colorado Springs facility. This qualified individual must:

          • Be able to lift 75 lbs
          • Posses great shop math skills
          • Be Forklift certified, and have experience operating a 32,000 lb capacity forklift
          • Have steel knowledge, kitting and organizational skills
          • Be willing to assist in other departments, such as deburring in Processing, as needed
          Duties and Responsibilities
          • Verify quantity and type of material received per line item on the packing slip
          • Compare receipted materials against open purchase orders
          • Mark the materials for identification and then safely move them to the appropriate area based upon current procedures
          • Pick material that is in-stock to satisfy job requirements, mark it accordingly and then move it to the staging area
          • Bring material to the processing lines per direction from the Department Leads
          • Identify carbon and stainless steel along with aluminum and mark effectively, maintaining a high degree of accuracy
          • Work in conjunction with all departments to facilitate the production requirements
          • Organize receiving staging areas to allow for control and monitoring of inventory, keeping a customer focus with multiple internal customers
          • Manage multiple priorities effectively
          • Receive parts into stock from outside suppliers and Springs Fab production, via Syspro, Manufacturing Requirements Planning software
          • On occasion perform receiving inspection of raw materials per established procedures and under the authority of the Quality Department
          • Produce required reports for management on daily, weekly, monthly basis as required
          • Organize and perform physical inventories annually and inventory cycle counts monthly, or as directed by management
          • Communicate with all departments as required to resolve discrepancies and maintain efficient flow of materials
          • The safe operation of a forklift and moving heavy, bulky materials is a high priority



          Polisher II - Westminster, CO

          Advanced Technology Group, a division of Springs Fabrication, is searching for experienced, self-motivated Polisher. In this role you will finish custom engineered metal products to the surface finish required by our customers. You will work with a team of talented fabricators where collaboration and communication is key to completing projects on time and to customer specifications. You will train others in polishing and finishing processes.

          ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
          • Read and understand fabrication drawings.
          • Determine required surface finish and locations on metal parts, assemblies, or weldments.
          • Use grinders, buff wheels, stroke sanders, and other tools, to grind and polish to required surface finish.
          • Processes required paperwork according to Standard Operating Procedures.
          • Maintain a clean, organized and safe working area.
          • Support training of personnel in established polishing and finishing processes.
          • All other duties as assigned by shop supervision.
          • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
            1. HS Diploma, GED or equivalent.
            2. At least 3 years of metal finishing experience and knowledge of sanitary surface finishes (grinding, graining, brushing, random orbital) on stainless steel equipment for the pharmaceutical, food-grade or nuclear industries.
            3. Ability read fabrication drawings to determine required surface finish and other specifications.
            4. Experience with grinders, buff wheels, stroke sanders, and other hand tools used to modify surface finish of stainless steel, steel, and aluminum products.
            5. Ability to use standard measuring equipment to measure dimensions and surface finishes.



          Sr. Project Manager - Westminster, CO

          The Sr. Project Manager will manage all aspects of complex technical projects comprised of design/build and build to print projects for a range of government clients (e.g. DOE, DOD, NNSA, National Laboratory, etc.) per the contracted scope of work consisting of codes, specifications and drawings. As well as develop, plan, direct, and coordinate project activities to ensure that goals and objectives of the projects are accomplished, delivering them on time, to the required quality standards and at or below budget.

          ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
          • Establishes detailed project plans for each phase of the project and identifies key resources required to support and execute the project
          • Identifies key metrics to include budget, schedule and quality and implements project control tools to evaluate project performance against these key metrics at various phases of the project (i.e. during design, manufacturing, close-out, etc.)
          • Communicates project plans to customers, project team members and department leads to ensure clear understanding of project scope and project metrics
          • Works with department leads to develop project staffing plans and ensure key personnel and resources are identified early in the project planning process and are available for project execution
          • Performs risk analysis and develops risk mitigation plans for complex projects including developing contingency plans and providing transparency for the project
          • Manages customer expectations and effectively communicates project status, dependencies, issues and risks to customers
          • Develops strong, long-term customer and industry relationships
          • Actively drives and manages projects and project teams to ensure we are delivering expected outcomes and meeting or exceeding key project metrics
          • Ability to lead and direct cross-functional teams to include engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, quality, and outside contractors
          • Provides leadership and mentoring to project team members as well as junior level project managers

          • Must have experience managing complex projects in excess of US $5 million.

            1. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
            2. Prefer experience with Government programs/project and/or experience with nuclear or NQA-1 related programs/projects.
